NexGen Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take insurance? If so, which ones?
We are in network with BCBS PPO, BCBS Medicare Advantage PPO, and Aetna. If you are not in network with the insurances we provided, we do offer a discounted self-pay rate. We also offer Superbills. You can pay with HSA/FSA cards.
What is Active Release Technique (ART) and how it’s used for treatment?
Active Release Techniques® (ART) is a hands-on movement-based technique to treat both acute and chronic soft tissue injuries. Soft tissue injuries occur when a muscle, ligament, tendon or nerve become overly tight and motion becomes limited, often causing pain and decreased function. The treatment decreases trigger points and adhesions within the muscle, leading to improved ROM, proper joint mechanics, and decreased pain. ART is a perfect complement to chiropractic adjustments. Providing ART either before or after the adjustment helps to facilitate the healing process to get patients out of pain quicker, significantly helping to reduce treatment time and improve function.
I have never been to a chiropractor and I am afraid of the “popping”. Can you still help me?
Yes, we have various techniques for chiropractic manipulation. Diversified, Thompson drop, activator, flexion-distraction. All are safe and effective.
What does a first appointment look like? How long will a treatment plan look like?
Initial appointment will take about 50 mins. First, the doctor will conduct a thorough history, followed by an exam. The exam consists of orthopedic tests, neurological tests, and motion palpation of the muscles and joints. Afterwards, the doctor will tell you their report of findings and perform a treatment.
Treatment plans usually consist of a 6-8 week program but varies depending on the patient’s condition or presentation. After the treatment plan is completed, a re-exam will occur to determine what your status is with your condition.
Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?
No you do not– under most PPO plans, you do not need a referral for a chiropractor.
Can chiropractic care help with my specific condition?
Every condition is different, in each and their own way. Your doctor will evaluate your specific condition through a thorough examination. They will assess your medical history, perform physical exams, and possibly recommend diagnostic tests to determine if chiropractic care is appropriate for your needs. In some cases, chiropractic care may be used in conjunction with other medical treatments for comprehensive management.
Is chiropractic safe?
Absolutely. Our doctors treat with evidence based care. The doctor will ask you questions throughout your history and if anything seems contraindicating, the doctor will inform you of it.
Is Spinal Manipulation Safe?
Safety is a top priority at NexGen Wellness & Sports Medicine. Spinal manipulation is generally considered safe when performed by a licensed and trained doctor of chiropractic. Most patients experience immediate relief, though some may have mild soreness or discomfort, similar to what you might feel after a workout. This usually resolves within 24-48 hours. Your doctor will discuss with you all potential side effects and any known risks prior to any treatment.
Spinal manipulation is a well-researched and effective treatment for a variety of conditions affecting the spine and musculoskeletal system. We utilize this "tool" to help our patients achieve better health and improved quality of life.
